Kobink
A Kobo can only download books from the Kobo store. Kobink runs on your own machine, answers at that address instead, and serves the books sitting in a folder. Nothing gets uploaded.
Install
1. Start the container
Point PUBLIC_URL at the address your reader can reach.
services:
kobink:
image: ghcr.io/tswh0/kobink:latest
restart: unless-stopped
ports: ["3000:3000"]
environment:
PUBLIC_URL: http://192.168.1.10:3000
volumes:
- /path/to/books:/library:ro
- ./data:/app/data
2. Read the key
The first start generates a key and prints it together with the address you need.
docker compose up -d
docker compose logs kobink
3. Point the reader at it
Open .kobo/Kobo/Kobo eReader.conf on the Kobo, put the key in the path,
then press Sync.
[OneStoreServices]
api_endpoint=http://192.168.1.10:3000/PASTE-YOUR-KEY-HERE/kobo
The path stops at /kobo. The device adds /v1 by itself.
What you get
- Covers cut from each book, in the sizes the device asks for.
- Manga converted with KCC fills the screen instead of floating in a text layout.
- Volumes arrive as a series with the right numbering.
- A sync with nothing new costs a few kilobytes.
- No database. One container, two folders.
Notes
PUBLIC_URLends up inside every download link, so it has to be the address the reader can reach.- HTTP on your own network is fine. Behind a proxy, use HTTPS and keep the link to yourself.
- The folder is read again every ten minutes. Drop a file in, wait, sync.
- Set
API_KEYif you want to choose the key yourself.
